Mitchell competes in Hayden Ross Memorial at Thunderbird Speedway
Jon Mitchell made a start in Oklahoma on Saturday as part of a 29-car Sooner Late Model Series field at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee.
On Friday, the first night of the Hayden Ross Memorial was rained out, making the event a one-day Saturday show. Mitchell opened his evening with a second-place result in his heat race on the half-mile clay oval after starting from the fifth position.
He rolled off fourth to begin the 20-lap, $6,600-to-win main event but faded and finished 18th.
