12th-place result for Mitchell in USRA ARMS run at Ark-La-Tex
When the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series’ Easter weekend trip to Oklahoma was washed out, Jon Mitchell elected to race close to his home. On Friday, the Texarkana, Texas, driver was one of 36 competitors in the USRA American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) program at Vivian, Louisiana’s Ark-La-Tex Speedway.
Mitchell opened the Friday portion of Donnie’s Birthday Bash at the quarter-mile track by driving his W&W Timber No. 5 Modified to the quickest time in his qualifying group. He went on to win his heat race from the pole and rolled off fourth to start the 30-lap, $1,500-to-win A-Main. He ran in the top five early before ultimately coming home 12th.
Mitchell did not compete in the $2,000-to-win Saturday ARMS program at Ark-La-Tex Speedway.
