12th-place finish in Texas Dirt Nationals opener

Jon Mitchell visited Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, Texas) on Friday afternoon to pilot his W&W Timber No. 5 Late Model for the inaugural Texas Dirt Nationals. Drawing 33 Late Models for the two-day event, Jon edged his way into the opening night feature with the fifth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. On Saturday evening, Mitchell followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Starting the $50,000-to-win Texas Dirt Nationals finale in 23rd, Jon was an early retiree from the 30-lapper on the 15th circuit.
