Jon Mitchell attends Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway

Jon Mitchell visited Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Miss.) on Friday evening to kick off the 14th annual Gumbo Nationals. With 38 Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) entries on hand for the two-day event, Jon followed up the third fastest time in his qualifying group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brian Rickman. Starting the opening night feature in fifth, Mitchell faded back to a 16th place outing in the 30-lap affair. (Millie Tanner photo | Turn 3 images)

On Saturday evening for the $8,000-to-win finale, Mitchell posted a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the main event. Running into trouble late in the 50-lapper, Jon was an early retiree on lap 48.
